Details about the AMCRC National Meet

The Mad-City Ramblers Chapter of AMCRC announces the Kenosha 2002 meet "100th Anniversary Celebration of the Rambler" 1902-2002, July 22-28, 2002.

The tentative itinerary includes: drive-in nights at local eateries (Andy's, Wendys, etc.), factory tours of Daimler Chrysler Engine Plant, Thursday night bandshell concert with automobiles on display, a car parade of Nash/Rambler/AMC through Kenosha, either starting or ending at the new Kenosha History Center/Rambler Legacy Gallery, and special events at the Kenosha History Center. A two-day swap meet (Fri.-Sat.), and Saturday's car show will take place at Kennedy and Pennoyer Parks, along Kenosha's lakefront. AMCRC's banquet will be Saturday evening. Sunday the clubs are invited to tour the MGA Research Proving Grounds & Crash Test Center (former AMC test track).

This is the AMCRC National Meet for 2002. This meet is co-sponsored by the City of Kenosha, WI and the Kenosha Area Tourism Corporation, along with help from the Local 72 UAW and their retirees and the Kenosha Car Club. This show is also the national meets for the following clubs: AMO, NAMDRA, AMCWC, MOCNA, and the Nash Car Club (their actual meet is in Racine, WI on July 26 but will be on the field in Kenosha on Saturday). This should be the largest gathering of Nash/Rambler/AMC/Renault vehicles ever in one show.

We are hearing of group caravans coming from throughout the country. If anyone is interested, contact the Mad-City Ramblers Chapter for information.

AMCRC's host hotel will actually be two adjoining hotels. The Best Western Executive Inn, and the Quality Suites. Both are located at 7220 122th Ave., Kenosha, WI 53142 (I-94 at Highway 50, NW corner). Our block of rooms consists of 70 rooms at $99 plus tax per room at the Best Western Executive Inn, and 40 rooms at $129 plus tax per room at the Quality Suites. Reservations at the Best Western Executive Inn can be made by calling 1-800-438-3932 and requesting the Rambler Club/Spangler Block or ID# 100789. Be sure to use the ID# and/or name as the AMCWC also has a block at this same hotel and we don't want to mix reservations. For reservations at the Quality Inn, call 1-888-338-8593.

The AMCRC banquet will be on Saturday at the Polish Legion of America Veterans, U.S.A., George Washington Post #34, located at 4902 7th Ave., Kenosha, WI (near the showfield and Museum). This will be a buffet meal.

One reason that the city is sponsoring this event is to showcase the new "Rambler Legacy Gallery" at the new Kenosha History Center located at the former Kenosha Water Treatment Plant. Each major AMC related club will be able to showcase two vehicles in the museum starting in about May of 2002 and the exhibit will run through August 2002. After August the museum will plan the display in the Rambler Gallery. We will now be considering what vehicles the AMCRC wants to exhibit. Anyone in the membership that has a museum quality car that best represents AMCRC and would like to display it during that period of time should contact Mike Spangler at 920-674-4482 or mail photos to 892 N. Jackson Ave., Jefferson, WI 53549.
